Modern Therapy with Deep Roots

Unearthed Psychotherapy owner, LPC-A Courtney Garcia Puckett smiles into the camera, wearing all black with a yellow, knitted hat, and a snowy backdrop.

Hey there! I’m Courtney, therapist and owner of Unearthed Psychotherapy. I am a Latina working class therapist, the youngest of five, and was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas.

I know firsthand the shame and confusion that can come from growing up in a large collectivist household with traditional rules and values. Growing up, there was an inherent pressure to “abide” by these certain set of values in order to feel a sense of belonging. I learned quickly that the fear of losing connection with my family often meant abandoning my own truth in the process.

With those experiences, I have learned to approach our work together with the understanding that your family story is complex and nuanced. All of that is welcome in this space — the messiness, the contradictions, the isolation, and all the parts we may hold with shame. In our journey, something you might hear me say is:

You are allowed to take up space and deserve to do so in every single room you are in.

Because for me, I knew I had found the right therapist when she had helped me realize that I can give myself permission to do the same.

From where and how you grew up, to your cultural values, your identity and sense of self are heavily impacted by your ancestral wounds. We may not get to choose the pain that we inherit, but we can make the decision to heal from it.

What service do you provide?

Unearthed Psychotherapy is all about helping individuals reclaim space, reconnect back to their innate selves, and learning the valuable tools they need to navigate life’s transitions.

I offer virtual, one-on-one therapy sessions for folks 16+ who are ready to begin a journey of introspection and healing.

What is therapy with me like?

I am deeply relational and human by nature! We will laugh together, cry, cuss, and even celebrate our wins together. My hope is that we create a safe, long term relationship where we can both be witnesses and collaborators in your story.

The truth is, people are inherently messy and multifaceted. Let this be the space where those things are celebrated instead of shamed.
